Hammer and Nail Exteriors is one of the Washington, DC area’s leading retailers for window and door replacement. For more than 50 years, Hammer and Nail Exteriors has been servicing the Washington, DC market with the philosophy that no one should have to compromise service and beauty for budget.

HERITAGE

Hammer and Nail Exteriors is locally owned and operated by Tom Chaikin. His father Marty Chaikin started the business in 1954 as one man with a sample in his hand. More than 50 years later, the company has grown to employ more than 25 people, including Tom’s wife, Kim, and nephew RJ. 

EXPERIENCE

Hammer and Nail Exteriors has a dedicated team of design consultants, measure technicians, trained installers and skilled service people. The Hammer and Nail Exteriors’ staff of experts has more than 250 years of combined experience in the window, door and exterior solutions industry.

PARTNERSHIPS

From 1999 through 2011, Hammer and Nail Exteriors was the independently owned and operated Renewal by Andersen retailer in the Washington, DC and Maryland area. As of January 2012, Hammer and Nail Exteriors has partnered with Marvin Windows and Doors, Integrity® from Marvin, Infinity® from Marvin and Simonton in order to carry a broader variety of solutions. We continue to offer ProVia® entry door systems, James Hardie siding products and TruGuard® covered gutter systems.

AFFILIATIONS AND AWARDS

Hammer and Nail Exteriors is an active member of the Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce, a BBB accredited business and recipient of the Angie’s List Super Service Award in 2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009. Marty Chaikin was named a Legend of the Home Improvement Industry at the General Remodeler’s Convention in 2003. Hammer and Nail Exteriors is licensed in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia.
